Today is my parent’s 71st wedding anniversary.
If they were still here Dad would say “it feels like a hundred years” with that twinkle in his eye. At which point Mom would say “Oh, Mac….”

Their life together was defined by WWII. I have hundreds of the letters that Dad wrote to Mom, pre, during and post war. As a career Navy man he was away from home most of those early years, and I believe they are the proof of “absence makes the heart grow fonder”.
I write this today with a profound gratitude for their commitment, their love, their loyalty, their curiosity, their love of music and most of all, their sense of humor.

I am blessed with a life that I love and I honor them as the source of that.
